Town selections limit the visible mine footprints and shaft points to the selected radius. Mine features remain approximate historical reference data, not survey-grade locations.
The Historic basemap uses Sangamon County GIS aerial mosaics. The 1939 layer is the earliest countywide aerial view available here and is useful for spotting mine-site remnants, roads, rail alignments, and later surface changes.
